Every time I meet someone in my travels around Indonesia as Ferzya, I am with great hope filled for the future of this country. This bright, young lady was born in 190 in Banda Aceh, but at the age of 10, her parents moved to Jakarta recovery from the ongoing civil war to get, and they completed their high school education in Bogor.
Ferzya went on to the University and graduated in economics in Jogjakarta. She had a longing to return to her home, and a year traveling intensively in Aceh, more familiar with their homeland and its diversity of cultures know. Ferzya tells her impressions: "I realized very early in my travels that Aceh is nothing, as reported in [negative] media people are friendly by nature, and there are to visit many beautiful areas.."
But in their travels through the forest reserves and national parks Ferzya, experienced a lot of environmental degradation. Unfortunately, the increasing threat to both biodiversity and cultural heritage of Aceh are a reality and is happening at a rapid pace.
"Deforestation and the illegal wildlife trade Aceh rob his old forests and iconic species. I think eco-tourism can help boost local economy in Aceh, as well as the feeling of human pride, to preserve and restore their natural and cultural heritage value. "
Ferzya decided to do something about it. "I have made a decision to engage in eco-tourism, and part of the solution, not the problem," she said. Ferzya speaks and acts from the heart. She speaks with tremendous passion over the forest to preserve the natural resources and the wildlife in Aceh. She takes tourists to visit these special places.
I traveled through Aceh in March this year, and met Ferzya. We started in Banda Aceh and finished in Medan. I experienced some of the environmental changes they spoke firsthand and I know with the passion and drive has this smart, young lady, will help to bring them to a positive change.
There is Ferzya the hope that people will not listen to the media, which often portrays Aceh in a bad light, but come and experience for yourself what Lonely Planet as "one of the best kept secrets for adventure travelers the world "describes.
There are great tracks of wilderness intact, and now to see it - before it's all gone - will help bring awareness to the problem and hopefully shed some light on these illegal commercial activities in more viable options rotate as eco-tourism initiatives. If enough pressure to be leveled to stop commercial activities that threaten conservation, change the heritage and shrinking animal species that exist in the national parks, reserves and forest land will happen.
Ferzya has since 04 seen many positive changes tsunami. The city of Banda Aceh is rebuilt, and the social fabric is mending. The Acehnese people are positive about their future. In December 2014, the 10-year anniversary of the tsunami will hopefully attract visitors. Now is the time for responsible tourism must be promoted and if you wish to support Ferzya, you are their commitment to support responsible tourism with a long-term vision to deliver the true sustainability supplies, work hand in hand with the local community. can be contacted
