The visa is misunderstood issued document of immigration. Whether a business cultura l social Tourist free or visa on arrival it's the same visa with the legally correct name: the visit visa. These different names cause a lot of confusion, leading to many stories end as urban myths only. The Indonesian visa system is clear and transparent. This article unravels the visa and advises the proper terminology to use
Typically only two visas for the average tourist or business person relevant to visit Indonesia .:

- , the free exemption visa

This visit visa, as described, can be obtained in three different ways.
- The visit visa on arrival (VOA)
A foreigner may apply for this visit visa on arrival in Indonesia if their nationality is included in the current visa on arrival countries list (see below). It is valid for 30 days and may be extended for a period in Immigration Department for 30 days.
The passport must be valid at least six months and the visitor must return or possess by ticket. For the visitor on a business trip, it is advisable to also have a letter of invitation of the company. So, a real business visa on arrival!
- The Single Visit Visa
If a visitor will stay longer in Indonesia, should one visit visa abroad at an Indonesian embassy or consulate are applied. This Single Visit Visa is valid for 60 days and can be extended five times for 30 days at an immigration office in Indonesia. Be careful, there is a single entry visa as Indonesia do not leave or it expires.
The passport must be valid for 6 months and the visitor must submit an application form, an application Annex sponsor letter, a return ticket and a passport photo.
- The Multiple Visit Visa
a foreigner who for family or business matters are often to Indonesia eligible to apply for a multiple visit visa at an Indonesian embassy or consulate wants to travel abroad. (Must be a direct family member or a company) The sponsor must apply for a telex approval to the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta first. A multiple visit visa is valid for one year, to be used within three months after the issuance. The visa allows to visit the visitor and leave Indonesia for a year, as much as he wants, but each stay only 60 days. The passport must be valid for at least 18 months, and the visitor has the telex approval, an application form, an application Annex sponsor letter, a return ticket, a copy of a bank statement and a passport photo.

- Freie liberation Visa
